Robin’s Curious Travels is an exciting, scripted podcast series for older kids 9-14 -- as well as parents and educators -- that follows the adventures of a an endlessly curious young girl, Robin, who discovers the magical power within an old grandfather clock.  The magical grandfather clock whisks Robin back in time to engage with historical figures at a defining and inspiring moment in their history-making lives. The stories are told in short, scripted podcasts – theatrical “radio plays” -- that encourage imagination and exploration.

 

In each episode (14-16 minutes) Robin encounters a person of consequence from history just before a pivotal moment that is about to unfold.  Robin’s brief, fictional engagements are drawn from real events that are faithful to the historical record and true character of these personal histories.  Through Robin, and sometimes the friends she brings along, we are treated to the influences and motivation that led to this time and place.  Listeners get to place themselves in the moment. 

 

She might come upon Thurgood Marshall in a room at the Supreme Court getting ready to argue Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka; Isaac Newton sitting under a tree contemplating the apple in his hand; land in a motel room with Martin Luther King moments before he is to give his “I have a dream” speech; or with Rachel Carson, mother of the environmental movement, about to warn Congress of the dangers of pesticides; and many, many more.

 

Through these time travel adventures audiences get a glimpse into the trials and triumphs of history’s trailblazers in a way that encourages curiosity and inspires our own journeys
